In a interview with Pakistani channel A Sports, former Team India captain Sourav Ganguly unveiled the secret behind India’s stellar performance in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup. With a flawless record of winning all eight games, India stands as a formidable force in the tournament.

Addressing the question of whether the transformation observed in the Indian team is attributed solely to the Indian Premier League (IPL), Ganguly clarified that while the IPL has played a significant role, the success is a result of the entire cricketing system. According to Ganguly, the players’ season kicks off in September and extends till May, encompassing various tournaments, including the IPL.

Ganguly emphasized the importance of playing longer formats, stating that while the IPL is beneficial, a player’s development spans 25-30 years. Drawing a parallel with legendary bowler Wasim Akram, Ganguly highlighted the value of players engaging in lengthier formats, asserting that a mere four overs of play won’t be sufficient for a player’s growth.

In essence, Ganguly conveyed that success on the cricketing stage is a culmination of diverse experiences and consistent participation in various formats, reinforcing the notion that true champions are molded over years of dedicated play.
